There are many varied reasons due to which you receive error messages on your computer screen. One such reason is the incomplete uninstallation of softwares or programs. Many times, when you uninstall a program, some remnants of the removed program get left behind. These leftovers can be files or entries related to that program in the system registry. In this article you will learn how to correctly uninstall two commonly used programs, McAfee Security Center and Windows Media Player. You will also understand the importance of a good registry cleaner in maintaining a healthy and error free PC.

How to uninstall McAfee Security Center?

There are a number of programs that are installed along with the McAfee Security Center application suit, which can make it difficult to completely uninstall this utility using normal uninstallation processes. 3. Browse through the list of installed programs.
  4. Locate and select McAfee Security Center.
  5. Select the checkboxes of the McAfee items you intend to uninstall and then click the Remove button. For a complete unistallation, you must be sure to remove all the McAfee Security Center products (McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Personal Firewall, McAfee Privacy Service, and McAfee SpamKiller).
  6. After the uninstallation process is over, restart your PC.

If, after restarting the PC, the Security Center is not completely uninstalled, then perform the steps listed below to remove this program:

  1. Double-click on “My Computer” icon on your desktop.
  2. Locate the McAfee Programs file folder.
  3. Now, open the \Agent\App folder.
  4. Locate and select all files with the .adf extension in this folder and delete them.
  5. Lastly, open the Add or Remove Programs utility and uninstall the McAfee Security Center again.

You can use this method for removing Windows Media Player 11 and any other application that you do not use.

You can also opt to use a third-party program uninstaller tool to ensure complete removal of the McAfee and other similar large and stubborn programs. Third-party uninstaller tools are designed to scan your entire hard disk and the registry for any remnants of uninstalled programs and get rid of them.

After you have uninstalled the undesired programs, it is imperative that you scan your system registry using an advanced registry cleaner to ensure that all entries related to that software are permanently removed from the registry. Often, these leftover entries cause system freezes or crashes and are a root cause behind many error messages that are displayed on your screen.

Remember that uninstalling a software by following the right procedures and keeping your registry free from unwanted information will ensure your PC’s good health for a long time.
